We actively work to prevent our properties and operations from being used in any way that could harm or exploit minors. Any suspected case will be reported immediately to the appropriate Colombian authorities.

Scope

For the purposes of this policy, a minor is any person under the age of 18, in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). This policy applies to all staff and contractors operating within Cartagena, Colombia.

Prohibited Conduct

Cartagena Vacation Rentals and all of its collaborators are strictly prohibited from:

  • Promoting, suggesting, or facilitating sex tourism or any form of sexual exploitation of minors through our services, marketing, or communications
  • Making our properties available to any party when there is reason to believe the space will be used for the exploitation or abuse of children
  • Including any imagery or content involving minors in a sexual or suggestive context in any company channel, including the website, social media, or printed materials

Our Obligations

  • Report any suspicious activity to Colombian tourism authorities and law enforcement
  • Ensure all staff are trained on recognizing and responding to signs of child exploitation

  • Political Constitution of Colombia, Article 44 — Fundamental rights of children
  • Law 679 of 2001 — Prevention and counteraction of exploitation, pornography, and sex tourism with minors

Sustainability Policy

Cartagena Vacation Rentals S.A.S. is committed to operating in a way that respects and preserves Cartagena's natural environment, cultural heritage, and local community. Sustainability is a core part of how we operate.

Environment

We work to reduce energy and water consumption across our properties and minimize waste generated through our operations, with a commitment to continuous improvement over time.

Community

We prioritize hiring local residents and support businesses that use locally sourced, sustainable products and materials. We promote the commercialization of handicrafts and goods made by native inhabitants of the Cartagena region under fair commercial conditions.

Culture

We promote Cartagena's culture responsibly — respecting local customs, supporting regional artisans, and offering tourism experiences that highlight what makes this city genuinely special, without exploiting it.

Responsible Tourism

We educate guests and suppliers on sustainable practices that contribute to the long-term wellbeing of the city and its people. We maintain a firm stance against child labor, sexual exploitation, and all forms of discrimination, and cooperate with competent authorities to prevent and report any such cases.

Exchange Rate Policy

For reservations quoted in foreign currency, conversion to Colombian pesos (COP) is made at the official Representative Market Rate (Tasa Representativa del Mercado — TRM) published by the Banco de la República on the day payment is received.

The TRM fluctuates daily. If you are booking in a foreign currency, the final COP amount charged may vary slightly from the amount shown at the time of your inquiry. We recommend confirming the current rate at the time of payment if this is a concern.
